The goals of this study were to build on students’ learning processes for basic and composite solids and employ Google SketchUp, an Internet resource tool, to develop and implement surface-area instructional and learning strategies (SAILS) for composite solids, and then measure its effect on learning achievement and attitudes. Virtual reality (VR) is an innovation that permits the individual to discover and operate within three-dimensional (3D) environment to gain practical understanding. They posit that v, ‘can represent in directly visible and mani, intangible and invisible in the real world’ (p.2). However, high cost proved to be one of the main barriers to its adoption in education, outside of experimental studies. The project developed a VR training program for training in T&S procedures. Discussing three course readings and a corresponding assignment, we demonstrate how fairy tales can be both deeply relevant to our students' own lives and move beyond relatability to allow access to unfamiliar identities and experiences.
